ABOUT US
Canticle Cards was established in 1989 to distribute products to the funeral industry, by Mr. Peter Stinson of the Stinson Funeral Home. Lisa Bryce joined Canticle Cards in 1993 after completing an education in business and art studies. In 1999, Lisa Bryce became the sole proprietor of Canticle Cards. The business continued to provide stationery products to the funeral industry, as well as introducing new lines of stationery and promotional products. Creations was also officially launched, with a sole mission at the time to design stationery and accessories for the wedding and event industry. “I knew buying an existing business and starting a new one would be risky.” says Bryce. “We positioned ourselves as a specialized ’boutique,’ offering ‘craftsmanship,’ ‘quality,’ ‘originality’ supported by ‘ethics and integrity.” Creations initially targeted the local retail market in Timmins and surrounding areas, but expansion on the Wedding line became necessary as demand became larger throughout Canada and the United States.
Standing Apart from the Crowd
Through the years, the company has experienced many triumphs, successes, learning lessons, and of course — trials and tribulations. “Like many startup companies or new entrepreneurs, the work is hard and you loose a lot of sleep, but ultimately the work is extremely gratifying.” says Bryce. “With a little luck, tireless efforts and preparation, we secured a place in the community primarily working off of “word of mouth” endorsements. In succeeding years, our customers grew to include international customers from across Canada and the United States due to the ease of ecommerce.
